As learning institutions both located in Peterborough, Trent University and Fleming College have intensified their special partnership to offer enhanced learning opportunities. As a student, this unique partnership gives you the best of both worlds.

 

  • Joint degree programs taught by faculty from both Trent University and Fleming College.
  • Degree completion options that mean specific Fleming College diplomas can be applied towards the appropriate related Trent degrees.
  • Applied learning experiences for valuable practical experience through a variety of research projects.
  • Access to student services at both institutions including placement and employment services, databases and library facilities, as well as recreation activities and facilities.

Honours Bachelor of Science in Ecological Restoration Trent- Fleming Degree/Diploma


The Ecological Restoration program is a joint four-year program being developed in collaboration with Trent University. Students will spend the first two years of the Ecological Restoration program at Fleming's Frost Campus in Lindsay and then spend years three and four at Trent University in Peterborough. Students successfully completing the program will graduate at the end of the four years with an Ontario College Diploma and an Honours B.Sc. in Ecological Restoration.

 

 Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing

 

A baccalaureate in nursing is now the minimum requirement for nursing registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Trent University and Fleming College have teamed up to offer the Trent/Fleming Nursing program, which is an integrated, collaborative four-year program leading to a B.Sc.N. Students take courses from both institutions. Trent provides courses in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities; and Fleming provides courses in nursing theory and nursing practice.

 

Honours Bachelor of Science in Computer Science

 

Fleming students taking selected technology programs have the opportunity to obtain a diploma and a Bachelor of Science degree at the same time. Graduates of the following programs may apply:  

 

  • Computer Programmer Analyst  
  • Computer Engineering Technology - Networking

 

Graduates with an average of 75% will be able to enter Trent's four-year Computer Science Honours degree program at the third year level. These students will be given ten credits towards the degree and must complete ten additional credits.

 

 Honours Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Resource Studies

 

Graduates of the following Fleming programs may apply for admission to the Environmental and Resource Studies Honours Science Degree program:  

 

  • Environmental Technology
  • Fish and Wildlife Technology
  • Ecosystem Management Technology 

 

Graduates achieving a minimum 75% overall average will be eligible to apply for advance standing admission into this degree program. Subject to student capacity, Trent University will grant direct entry and will assign two years of credit towards the four-year Honours degree. 

 

Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology 

 

Graduates of Fleming's Fish and Wildlife Technology program achieving a minimum 75% overall average will be eligible to apply for advanced standing admission into the Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. Subject to student capacity, Trent University will grant direct entry and will assign two years of credit towards the four-year degree.

 

Honours Bachelor of Business Administration

 

Graduates of the following Fleming programs may apply for admission to this degree program: 

 

  • Business Administration
  • Business  Administration - Accounting
  • Business Administration - Human Resources Management
  • Business Administration - Marketing

 

Graduates achieving a minimum 75% overall average will be eligible to apply for advance standing admission into the Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. Subject to student capacity, Trent University will grant direct entry and assign two years of credit towards the four-year Honours degree.

 

Bachelor of Arts - Bachelor of Science (Psychology Major)

 

Graduates of the General Arts and Science - University Transfer program with an overall 70% average and no grade less than 65% in any credit transfer course, are eligible to apply for advance standing admission into these degree programs at the second year level. Trent University will grant direct entry and assign four credits (of five required for the first year)
towards the degree, and students must complete the additional credits required in the Trent program selected.

 

Museum Management and Curatorship Special Emphasis Degree

 

The Trent/Fleming Museum Studies program leads to a Trent Honours degree in any discipline with an emphasis in museum studies. Students completing the program will receive an advanced certificate in Museum Management and Curatorship from Fleming. Students completing the three-semester Fleming certificate with a minimum average of 70% will receive up to four upper-year course equivalents towards an Honours degree.

 

Geographical Information Systems Special Emphasis

 

By attending Fleming College in the third year of their program, Trent University students enrolled in an Honours Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in either Geography or Environmental and Resource Science/Studies can achieve a special emphasis in Geographical Information Systems.

 

Option 1:   Students returning to Trent having successfully completed the full three-semester Geographical Information Systems - Application Specialist or Geographical Information Systems - Cartographic Specialist graduate certificate in the third year of their Trent degree will receive seven full-credits in Geography or Environmental Resource Science/Studies.  They then must complete three full-credits in their fourth year to fulfill the requirements of the single-major or joint-major degree, as outlined in the specific degree program requirements.  “Emphasis in Geographical Information Systems (Applications)” or “Emphasis in Geographical Information Systems (Cartography)” will be noted on their Trent transcript.
 
Option 2:   Students who successfully complete semesters one and two of the Geographical Information Systems - Application Specialist or Geographical Information Systems - Cartographic Specialist graduate certificate at Fleming College would return to Trent University after year three, and receive five full-credits towards their Geography or Environmental Resource Science/Studies degrees, However, because they will not have completed the three-semester Geographical Information Systems - Application Specialist or Cartographic Specialist graduate certificate, they will instead receive an “Emphasis in Geographical Information Systems”.  This will be noted on their Trent transcripts. These students will be eligible to return to Fleming College following completion of their Trent degree in order to complete semester three of the Geographical Information Systems Application Specialist or Cartographic Specialist graduate certificate.
