This ongoing portfolio project is intended to incorporate and demonstrate the student's new skills and knowledge as the Web Developer program progresses over three semesters. In this first segment, students will research examples of e-portfolios and establish their own style and preferences for a portfolio. Students will also establish the initial design and content of their e-portfolio.

Introduction to HTML

Course Number: COMP106

The ability to create HTML documents from scratch and work within existing HTML documents is key to the Web development process and an asset to a Web development team. Beginning with HTML 3.2 and advancing to HTML 4.0 (DHTML), students will learn how to use HTML to create a basic Web site. Through all levels of HTML learning, the student will learn about the various browser capabilities and reverse compatibility issues, and be required to cross browser test and troubleshoot their HTML code.

Software Fundamentals

This course provides a foundation for a variety of topics in Applied Computing and Engineering Science including algorithmic solutions and the algorithmic process, information processing, computer programming as well as the system development life cycle. This introduction will focus on algorithmic design and computer solutions using object oriented principles. Lecture material will provide an introduction to the theory and logic behind today's computer oriented society and computer programming in an object oriented environment. Hands on computer labs will allow the student to apply and reinforce the principles of algorithm development and programming in an object oriented environment.

Employing their skills in web design, they will create a prototype of their e-portfolio web site and begin to add their content.

Creating content for the Web requires specific communication and presentation skills. Multimedia Web Development I

The first of two courses, Multimedia Web Development I is designed to build basic technical competencies in the appropriate use of multimedia for business, commerce and educational applications. The course examines the various file types in current use including audio, video, movie and Flash files: online playback systems: browser plug-ins: and the preparation/optimization of multimedia for Web delivery.
