Program Flexibility Designed For You

Choose from several start dates throughout the year. We have structured the program to accommodate students' varying learning needs, so once you are ready, you will have the opportunity to move up a level at these times throughout the year. Students must attend 80% of classes and achieve a minimum of a 65% overall, with no mark less than a 50% in order to proceed to the next level.

Program Highlights

This new certificate program has four levels (based on initial placement testing), and is designed for non-native speakers of English who wish to improve their English skills for entry into college or for further professional development. Fleming's program consists of four distinct levels: I, II, III and EAP. Levels I, II, and III will help you to improve your language proficiency skills. English for Academic Purposes (EAP) will provide you with the advanced language and study skills to help to prepare you for entry into your college program of choice. Your academic progression through the levels will be determined by your successful completion of the criteria established for each course within each level. Five distinct courses are offered in each level: speaking, listening, reading, writing and vocabulary. This program also includes academic tutoring and mentoring services. Each level may be completed in 7-14 weeks. EAP is fourteen weeks in length. Upon successful completion of level EAP, students are eligible to enrol as a full-time student in a post-secondary program at Fleming College. You will study in a college environment and have access to Fleming's facilities and services including computer labs, counselling services and libraries.
