Chain Maille Workshop

June 06, 2009

Course Number: ARTS1084

Section Number: 41

Instructor: Susan Watson-Ellis ·

Chain maille originated with the Celts around 400 BC and was used for body armour. Today jewellers and hobbyists make use of its flexible, tactile nature to create an endless array of body adornments. In this workshop you will learn how to form, saw, and connect links to construct a "four in one" chain maille bracelet. Discussion of additional chain maille patterns will inspire further independent exploration of this historic technique.

Please Note: There will be a material fee of $40 payable to the instructor.
