This course examines various forms of politically-motivated and violent conflict: anarchism, coup d'etat, revolt or rebellion, revolution and counter-revolution, state repression and terrorism (often associated with dictators and totalitarian political systems), state sponsored international terrorism, domestic and international anti-establishment or anti-regime terrorism, and limited war (ethnic, civil, guerrilla, regional). It is concerned with the history, context, ideology, practice, and explanatory theories associated with political and violent conflict.
