Tobi Asmouchs's photographs are images taken from what is existing but not immediately recognized; these unspoken significant moments are indicative of the essence of the person, area or event illustrated. Without pretenses, she is upfront with the subjects, letting her intuition take the lead. The photographs are blue prints of Tobi's relationship to the communities and individuals she has visited. The images are about life's constantly occurring mysteries, leading the viewer and photographer to personal insights and clearer understandings of their connection to one another. A freelance photographer based in Toronto since 1992, her work appears in publications such as Toronto Life, Saturday Night, National Post Business, National Post, Canadian Geographic, Canada Year Book 2001, Elm Street, Money Sense, Vancouver Magazine, Canadian Inflight, EnRoute, Cracker, Images, Seasons, Golf Canada, Elevate, Where Toronto, Our Kids Go to Camp, and, Our Kids Go to School.
