Haliburton School of The Arts

Aida Bardekjian is a graduate of the Traphagen School of Design in New York, NY. She completed her postgraduate studies in Apparel Design/Production and Tailoring at Domenico Schiavone in Italy. Part of her studies took place at Saga International Design Centre in Copenhagen, Denmark where she participated in fur design workshops. Aida spent 27 years as an educator in Apparel and Design and Production at The Ryerson School of Fashion, teaching pattern drafting, design, draping and construction. She was the designer and owner of her own business La Jeunesse Boutique in Toronto and she designed for a number of women's wear manufacturers including Lori Juniors Ltd., Pant-man, Sportswear Ltd. and Highland Queen. Aida did costume design for `Arasbel` Theatre group and designed and distributed a leather collection under the label of Aida Bard Designs, Italy. She has worked hard her entire career, playing an integral role in placing Canadian designers in the global economy. Currently, Aida works as a private consultant and her scope of work includes professional development strategies for fashion and related covers; research and development of a fashion line with a selection of fabrics and appropriate construction techniques for various apparel categories; and planning and presenting a fashion product line for an identified target market with regard to price points.
